One Year Later: Keiji Inafune Talks Mighty No. 9 IGN PS3

One year later, Keiji Inafune’s Kickstarter success with Mighty No. 9 is starting to finally come to life as a real game. The recent beta proved the Mega Man creator still has it, and while he’s visibly excited about his developer Comcept's next game, Inafune is still dealing with unexpected pressure from fans wanting more.


“Traditionally, if we were to make this game on a normal development cycle, we’d work on it for a year to the point where it’s polished, announce the title, and six months later we’d release it,” Inafune told IGN. “With Kickstarter, we hadn’t even started production. It was pre-production. We had the whole development to do.”


People were asking where Mighty No. 9 was earlier than is reasonable for a developer -- “we had just started at the concept. We didn’t have a year to make it,” and people were wondering why they couldn’t yet play Mighty No. 9.
