Starting today, users of devices running Android 5.0, aka Lollipop, can use a revamped version of Google's Calendar app. The digital planner has received an aesthetic makeover, in addition to new ways to interact with events from within Gmail. And in big news, iOS users can expect a dedicated Google Calendar app in the future.
When you receive an email containing date and time information, such as a confirmation email for a purchased flight, Google Calendar will now automatically create an event in the app, noting flight times and check-ins. The new Assist function, meanwhile, works to make suggestions as you type--kind of an autocomplete for events. If you're repeatedly scheduling a particular activity with a friend, for example, Google Calendar will recognize this pattern and make a suggestion.
