Uppercut Games is one of the most interesting indie studios operating in Australia at the moment. Not just because of its excellent output - games like Epoch and Epoch 2 - but because its three founders: Ed Orman, Andrew James and Ryan Lancaster brought with them a wealth of experience, having worked on seminal titles and franchises like BioShock, BioShock 2, Tribes: Vengeance, Fallout:Tactics, XCOM and more.
IGN AU's Luke Reilly and I caught up with them to chat about being an Aussie indie, their new title Submerged (check it out above) and - fascinatingly - what went wrong with XCOM: a title that the guys worked on for many, many years and saw go through numerous changes of direction. It's a pretty interesting discussion, so dig in!
