If this new Superman storyline is suffering from any one problem, it's pacing. Geoff Johns has woven Ulysses into a pretty compelling character over the last six months. He debuted as a wide-eyed new ally for Superman, and has since morphed into a murkier sort of antagonist. Issue #35 was slightly disappointing in how compressed Ulysses' arc felt and how quickly he shifted from one to the other. Issue #36 addresses that problem, but now the series' pacing has slown to a crawl.
