While it's been rumored for a long while, HBO has officially announced that Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Red Eye) has joined Season 2 of True Detective as the female lead.

Taylor Kitsch, who mentioned he'd be a part of the season, was also officially announced as joining the cast - along with Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes movies, ABC's Black Box).
