Robert Rodriguez‘s El Rey Network has dropped its original scripted series Matador, from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, after one season.
Matador, which starred Gabriel Luna as a DEA agent recruited by the CIA to go undercover as a professional soccer player, ended its first season back on October. The decision to end the series was due to the fact that it didn't do as well internationally as originally hoped for, reports Deadline. Matador had already been renewed for a Season 2 back before the series premiered in July, so the decision not to continue on is essentially a reversal of that pick up.
