X-Men: First Class Helmer Producing ghostgirl IGN All

Matthew Vaughn’s MARV Films label has acquired the rights to Tonya Hurley’s young adult series ghostgirl. Vaughn will produce a movie adaptation along with frequent collaborator Valerie Van Galder.


Per TheWrap, “In ghostgirl, high school senior Charlotte Usher feels invisible at school, and then one day she really is. Even worse — she's dead… and all because of a guy and a gummy bear. Described by MARV Films as satirical yet heartfelt, ghostgirl explores the invisibility we all feel at time and the lengths we'll go to to be seen.”


Hurley has written several follow-ups to the original ghostgirl, including the novels ghostgirl: Homecoming and ghostgirl: Lovesick. Vaughn’s company has the rights to the whole series so if the first one works out, some ready-made sequels could easily follow.
