At the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, Starz debuted a new trailer for Black Sails: Season 2. The trailer is set to a Nick Cave song, which the producers revealed will play in the closing credits of an upcoming episode where some big events occur.
Season 2 will delve into the history of Flint (Toby Stephens), via flashbacks set 15 years before. Stephens said those flashbacks will show “How he became the pirate that he now is. We get to know a lot more about him and what is motivating him and driving him to do these extreme things. He is perhaps a lot more complicated than you think at the end of Season 1.” Stephens knows that Flint’s actions by the end of Season 1 made him hard to sympathize with but said that with these flashbacks, “We understand, hopefully, why he’s done what he’s done and the demons that are driving him.”
