Bloodhound SSC has released a video showing the communications test for the company's attempt to break the land speed record with a 1,000mph (1,609km/h) car.
Last autumn a Jaguar F-Type R Coupé and a Jaguar XF saloon carrying the communications equipment needed to stream voice, data, and video from the Bloodhound Supersonic Car took to the desert of South Africa. Above them an L39 jet flew passes over the track, reaching closing speeds of up to 650mph.
Communications might sound like a trivial component for the fastest car ever made but, considering that the car is designed to reach enough speed to travel from St. Louis to San Francisco in about two hours, it's critical that the team of engineers is able to get accurate real-time data from the car as it (literally) rockets its way across South Africa.
