Reports from this week suggest that Google may launch its own wireless service and start offering mobile phone plans to customers.
According to The Information, unnamed sources say the rumored Project Nova would see Google striking deals with Sprint and T-Mobile for wholesale access to their data networks.
Buying bandwidth off other carriers rather than Google creating a network of its own is what's called a mobile virtual network operator, or MVNO.
There are no conclusive details yet about Google's pricing plans or their strategies to compete with other major U.S. carriers.
