“We literally know nothing! There’s no point in us being here,” incoming Late Late Show host James Cordon told reporters at the 2015 Winter TCA Press Tour in Pasadena, Calif. on Monday afternoon. “We should be back working, figuring out what the show is.”
The British comedian wasn’t exaggerating. As reporters clamored for the microphone and talked over each other for a chance to ask the incoming host their questions, it became increasingly apparent that no real decisions have actually been made.
“We’ve been working on this for four days and have a staff of six,” he laughed. “So if you have suggestions we’d love to hear them, because we have almost no ideas.”
When Cordon takes over the CBS weeknight series from outgoing host Craig Ferguson on March 23, he’s hoping to bring his own brand of humor to a long-established line of late night hosts, while infusing the entire thing with some song and dance from his Broadway past.
