Remaking foreign shows for the U.S. has become a curious endeavor now that people in the States have more ways than ever to see the original shows, what with Netflix airing some and cable channels like BBC America, Sundance, and Starz airing others. But similar to what FOX recently did with their Broadchurch remake, Gracepoint, A&E has remade the superb French supernatural thriller series Les Revenants, aka "The Returned" (which aired its first season on Sundance in 2013 and can currently be seen on Netflix).
The new American version of The Returned comes to us from Cartlon Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel, The Strain) and Raelle Tucker (True Blood) and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Mark Pellegrino, India Ennenga, Sandrine Holt, and Jeremy Sisto. And this past week, Cuse and Tucker, along with the cast, appeared at the Television Critics Association press tour to answer questions about A&E's reimagining of the series, which focuses on a small mountain community that's turned upside-down when those who were presumed dead suddenly start to reappear.
