In ABC's new comedy Fresh Off the Boat, debuting Wednesday night, a Taiwanese family deals with culture shock after moving from Washington D.C.'s Chinatown to suburban Orlando. The series is loosely based on the life and memoir of food personality Eddie Huang and was developed for TV by Nahnatchka Khan (Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23). While the new show is a family sitcom at heart, it also has the distinction of being the first Asian-American sitcom in over a decade, dealing with race issues in fresh and clever ways.
