Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude TPB Review IGN All

STK663320 Ostensibly, this collection is aimed at helping Marvel fanatics get up to speed in preparation for the Age of Ultron movie. And while it technically does that, the amount of truly relevant and worthwhile material in this collection is too minimal to justify paying $15.


This collection kicks off by collecting the two-issue comic book adaptation of the first Avengers film. And if two issues sounds like far too little room to do that story justice, you'd be right. These comics offer a very workmanlike take on the film, operating at breakneck speed, cutting all sorts of subplots and exchanges, and basically draining The Avengers of all its humor, fun, and excitement. Visually, these issues start out rough and only grow worse as the final battle scene regularly and randomly jumps between two wildly different art styles. Considering that anyone reading this book has probably seen the movie at least once, you have to wonder what purpose this rudimentary adaptation serves.
