Focus, starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie as con artists, debuted atop the North American box office this weekend with an estimated $19.1 million.
Although that opening was slightly below industry expectations, it was still enough to dethrone reigning champ Fifty Shades of Grey, which dropped to fourth place with roughly $10.9 million.
Weep not for Fifty Shades of Grey, though. With $486.2 million worldwide in its play room, the erotic drama is now Universal's highest-grossing R-rated international release of all time, surpassing its raunchy comedy Ted.
The weekend's other major new release, horror flick The Lazarus Effect, opened in fifth place with an estimated $10.6 million.
