A couple things at the top. One, we’re launching this look at the fate of network TV series this season several weeks later than we normally do most years, for which I apologize. Two, the funny thing is, even if it had gone up when it normally does, there'd only be a couple of differences, because there’s actually a lot less up in the air than is the norm, thanks to a ton of shows getting notably early renewals this year. In January alone, FOX renewed Empire, Gotham and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, CBS renewed Scorpion, Madam Secretary and NCIS: New Orleans and CW renewed nearly every single show they aired in the fall, including series like The 100 and Reign that were expected to not have decisions made until close to the network Upfronts in May. This was followed in early February by NBC renewing several shows, with ABC the only network to not have any official renewals yet, even for shows we know will return.
