Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
A whole lot happened this week...but then again nothing happened. The funny thing about 12 Monkeys is episodes like "Paradox" that feel like game changers to the audience don't really change anything at all in terms of the previously established chain of events. We are still on track to lose 7 billion people as a result of the plague, including Cassie, but the road to that place keeps getting more complicated.
There was a lot to love this week but my favorite was the Odd Couple team up of Cassie and Katerina in 2015. Desperate to save Cole, Cassie tracks her down using information that Cole gives her that she will give him in 2017 (Right? Right). Wasn't that a nifty bit of make-up or VFX or magic that made Barbara Sukowa look plausibly 30 years younger than she is? It was thrilling to see these two pivotal characters team up together. Thrilling, and hilarious. Every moment worked, from Jones calling Cassie's toy gun bluff, to Jones' exasperation over Cassie's decision to tell Cole's dad the whole crazy truth (more on that in a second) to Cassie's distaste for Jones' smoking.
