American Odyssey: Series Premiere Review IGN All

It's a tale as old as the U.S. of A. -- government conspiracy! That's the name of the game in NBC's new drama-thriller American Odyssey. Taking cues from shows like Homeland, 24 and even a little Newsroom, the spring series doesn't offer anything you haven't seen before, but it's got a great lead in Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies, Limitless), and the machination surrounding her character offers a good deal of intrigue in the first episode.


The story follows Odelle Ballard (Friel), a U.S. sergeant stationed in North Africa, who stumbles upon computer files that show a major U.S. corporation is secretly funding terrorists. Ballard is able to download the files onto a jump drive, but her who unit is wiped out before she can tell anyone. While the world is told that her entire team was tragically attacked by enemy militants, Ballard, the sole survivor, knows the truth: they were attacked by private American military contractors because of the information she and her team found.
