Instead, you’re stuck up on that billboard platform getting roasted alive in the Tucson sun while desperately trying to cover your skin with your stretched-out t-shirt. Also, your pants blew away. Oh Phil.
In the wake of his and Carol’s divorce -- the conscious uncoupling that the pair announce to the group at the start of the episode while dancing to Gail’s accordion playing -- Phil was supposed to be a free man. He had two women who were interested in him in Gail and her fellow newcomer Erica, and Carol even seemed to be O.K. with the situation more or less. “Thank you for three wonderful weeks of marriage,” she says. “Especially the first day and a half was really something.”
