Chef Review IGN All

Jon Favreau has had an action-packed career thus far. A writer-director-actor, he made his name with indie darling Swingers, crafted a modern holiday classic in the shape of Elf, and helped set up the Marvel movie universe with Iron Man.


Such success propelled him into the big-leagues, but his last two blockbusters – Iron Man 2 and Cowboys & Aliens – received something of a critical mauling.


And one wonders how that affected Favreau, as new his movie finds him returning to his independent movie roots to tell the tale of a celebrated chef who decides go it alone following a particularly nasty review.


Favreau plays the cook in question – Carl Casper – who has the top job at an LA restaurant when proceedings commence. But Casper isn’t happy with his lot in life. Divorced and failing to connect with his son at home, he also has his hands tied at work, with his boss insisting that Carl serves his greatest hits rather than crafting anything more exciting or adventurous.
