The developer behind Thief – Montreal Eidos – has experienced a round of layoffs. Word comes by way of Kotaku, which indicates that as many as 50 people have been let go.
“Multiple sources” have spoken to Kotaku on the matter, though the number of employees let go is still unknown, with “one source
30-50; another
20+.”
Thief experienced a lengthy development period – it was announced as Thief 4 way back in 2009 after being teased for a couple of months – and wasn’t initially designed for next-gen consoles. All was quiet for years until the game was re-revealed last year.
