With True Detective's first season now behind us, the legend of Matthew McConaughey's Rust Cohle lives on. And thanks to Rust having a devil's share of unsettling, existential "McConaulagues," the actor's most certainly on his way towards an Emmy win for "Outstanding Actor in a Miniseries or Movie."
True Detective: Season 1 Finale Review
Throughout Season 1's eight powerful episodes, Detective Rust Cohle - aka "The Michael Jordan of Being a Son of a Bitch" - could always be counted on for an unhealthy dose of nihilism with a chaser of unwelcome pessimism. A trait that not only pushed everyone (friends, family) out of his life, but also helped marked him as a prime suspect in an widespread occult murder case. But there was a poetry to Rust's rhetoric that was undeniably cool. And it was all said with such sad certainty that one couldn't help but think he was indeed "main-lining the secret truths of the universe."
