Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
Though the promo last week gave away Dr. Whale’s fairy tale story-based identity, it was still fun to see his past as Victor Frankenstein. He gets tangled up with Regina in Storybrooke and the homeland as he attempts to resurrect her love, Daniel (Nikita's Noah Bean). And back in what’s left of fairy tale land, Snow and Emma meet Hook and face a beanstalk.
Just pause for a minute to appreciate that there’s a series that includes all those aspects.
Cora ripped out the hearts of everyone in the safe town in fairy tale land. She did it just to leave Hook as a survivor so he could try to fool Snow, but they saw through him. I feel like it ended up playing out just as Cora wanted – which means she killed a whole lot of innocents for no good reason. She’s at a level of evil we haven’t seen yet. It also means Hook is leading Emma up a beanstalk and into a trap to get the compass needed to return to Storybrooke.
