There's something about Liam Neeson these days, isn't there? No matter how treacherous the situation he -- or, rather, his onscreen character -- finds himself in, you just know he's going to get out of it. And he's going to save everyone around him, too. And you're going to wind up feeling safe as well, somehow.
In a way, those same emotions carry over when sitting down to watch Taken 2. A sequel, of course, to the unlikely hit from 2008, Taken 2 is a threatening sort of enterprise at first glance. What are the chances, you wonder as the film starts with the funerals of the many Neeson victims from Part 1, that lightning is going to strike twice for this particular concept? But then once Liam shows up, that old warm sense of comfort, safety and familiarity kicks in. Ahhhh, you think, I know exactly where this is going, and that's just fine. Keep me safe, Liam, keep me safe!
