Between the iPad mini and the fourth-generation iPad, Apple sold three million of its new tablets in their opening weekend.
But given the growth-rate of the tablet market, (which Apple has consistently dominated since it debuted the first iPad,) and seeing as the record numbers include sales of two distinct products - the full-sized iPad and the iPad mini - it's worth asking how those numbers stack up to Apple's past successes.
The 3-million-iPads milestone isn't entirely new to Apple: it sold 3 million 3rd-gen iPads in March of this year. But only half of those were WiFi-only models, and new LTE-equipped iPads weren't available this weekend.
