Saints Row 3 Ships 5 Million, Darksiders 2 Ships 1.4 IGN All

THQ reports that 5 million copies of Saints Row: The Third have been shipped to retailers, along with 1.4 million copies of Darksiders II. The figures come via THQ’s earnings report for the second quarter of its 2013 fiscal year, where the company noted that Saints Row: The Third has continued to sell well since its 2011 launch, with catalog sales boosting the company’s earnings. THQ president Jason Rubin noted that while the company was pleased with Darksiders II’s quality, the game “did not perform to our expectations,” adding that “in the current marketplace only the absolute top tier of releases is making an impact on game consumers.”


Overall, THQ’s net sales were $91.8 million, down compared to last year’s $119.6 million for the same period. Sales were above what THQ projected, largely thanks to catalog sales including Saints Row: The Third. Catalog sales represented 37% of earnings for the quarter, while digital sales accounted for $19.1 million, up 34% compared to last year.
