Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
While Season 3 of The Walking Dead has been great -- the most consistent and confidant the series has ever felt over a prolonged period -- “Hounded” was the first episode this season that, while good, didn’t quite resonate so strongly.
I am hardly a comic book purist – It’s totally fine to me for this series to alter plotlines and specifics on who lives and dies and where things occur. In fact, I quite enjoyed this episode including a ton of situations from the comic -- involving phone calls, captures and characters being declared dead -- play out, but with notable differences. But while specifics are one thing, it’s pretty notable how much better defined and stronger a character Andrea is in the comics compared to the TV series, where she seems utterly malleable and lacking her own identity.
