It's off to the chopping block for Guillermo del Toro's stop-motion Pinocchio movie, which had Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Waits in talks to join. Gris Grimly, who illustrated the original storybook on which the film would've been based, revealed via Twitter this week that the feature project is no longer happening.
Bleeding Cool was able to secure the tweets before they were removed earlier today. "Short to the point update on Pinocchio for those inquiring: It appears that this is not the right time for such a superior-adventurous flick," Grimly said. He then replied to a fan, adding, "There are people like us out there. But they look at numbers. Frankenweenie was a box office failure to them."
Activision has announced new sixth generation car downloadable content for NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. Available in February on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the new content will bring Gen 6 cars to Inside Line for the first time.
New cars include the new Chevrolet SS, Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry models, which “now accurately resemble each manufacturer’s showroom models like never before.”
According to developer Eutechnyx, “the NASCAR Gen 6 cars further Eutechnyx and Activision’s shared commitment to continue to deliver an unparalleled NASCAR experience. Players will be able to put these new cars through their paces online and in selected single player modes, as well as with the upcoming Inside Line Highlights (sold separately), a series of in-game DLC packs that utilize telemetry data from actual NASCAR races to let players relive and rewrite race events just as they unfold for real.”

If I could display some of my favorite digital puzzle games on a shelf, I’d put Antichamber next to the Portal series. Antichamber lacks personality and its narrative feels pointless, but its puzzles are expertly crafted and wonderfully inventive challenges. If you pick up Antichamber, then prepare to put your brain to the test and for surprises from start to finish.
Antichamber forgoes any sort of initial tutorial or plot development and drops you right into the game world. You start out in a small room that serves as both your hub and the game’s main menu. It’s an inventive way to handle the traditional menu and an example of how Antichamber defies typical video game conventions. From here you also teleport into the first of Antichamber’s many rooms and can, at any time, transport back by simply hitting the Escape key.
While mum is still very much the word with regards to Apple's rumored HDTV, the company's current set-top box, the Apple TV, could soon see the arrival of the HBO Go, Bloomberg reports. According to two unnamed sources "familiar with the plans," Apple is currently negotiating with the network's parent company, Time Warner Inc., to bring the streaming app to its platform. If successful, the company reportedly hopes to integrate the service into its $99 streaming device by mid-2013. HBO Go would fall alongside the Apple TV's current array of apps, which include iTunes movie and TV rentals, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vimeo, YouTube, MLB.TV, NBA, NHL, and WSJ Live.
XSEED has confirmed that Rune Factory 4 is headed to North America this summer.
The game was announced back in February 2012 for a Japanese release, but today marks the first time it’s been officially confirmed for the West.
According to XSEED, Rune Factory 4 adds “new romance options, the ability to select a male or female character at the game’s start, and has endless crafting, farming and cooking opportunities. The player becomes Selphia’s prince or princess and can manage the village, explore the countryside with townsfolk, or tame monsters in the wild to aid them in battle or help out in the fields.”
This week in Hawkeye #7, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop did their best to help out during Hurricane Sandy. Not only was it a fantastic book with a great cause (writer Matt Fraction is giving some of his royalties from the issue to the Red Cross for Sandy Relief), but it also has our pick for cover of the week.

Like clockwork, a Tweet, Facebook post and blog message just went up simultaneously -- posted by PlayStation -- mysteriously teasing “the future” of PlayStation. The date being teased? February 20th, 2013. What's being teased? We assume it's the PlayStation 4, but we don't know for sure.

It’s been a little over two years since Nintendo first brought us Fluidity. It debuted in late 2010 as a WiiWare download, and it quickly became one of the Wii Shop’s premier puzzlers by combining attractive visuals and excellent water physics with a tilt-based control scheme that was perfectly suited for the Wii Remote. Now the concept of guiding a little puddle of water through the colorful pages of a storybook is back in Fluidity: Spin Cycle – but things don’t flow quite as well here on 3DS.
The hardware itself is a hindrance, as in the original game you manipulated the Wiimote in your hands to tilt game levels on your TV to the left and right, allowing gravity to influence how your water puddle was splashing and falling around. But here, the game display is also in your hands. That means you’re constantly changing your grip, continuously repositioning your hands as you rotate your 3DS in full 360-degree circles to solve several stage’s puzzles.
Can't make it to the Grand Canyon? No worries. Google Street View will bring the Grand Canyon to you. In their continued effort to make the world seem like a smaller, more accessible place, Google is bringing the majesty of the Grand Canyon into the comfort of your own home with the help of Trekker, an Android-operated 15-lens camera mounted on a 40-pound backpack.
On their official blog, Google announced that users can now utilize Google Maps to explore over 75 miles of trails and exposed paths in the Grand Canyon, including the Bright Angel Trail and the South Kaibab Trail. With a few clicks of a mouse, armchair explorers can now appreciate the scenic views surrounding the Colorado River and virtually hike the rim of Meteor Crater without ever having to navigate the rocky terrain or unpredictable temperature fluctuations of one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders.
Season 1 was a game jam, but Season 2 of The Next Game Boss puts indie games through the gauntlet of David Jaffe, Lisa Foiles, and Jenova Chen!

Cody is a dick, Andy is the glue, Hollywood's a sham and Oliver might be gay. Together these Gears of War gamers must stick together in order to try and win $400,000 at the Cyberbowl Championship in Noobz, an earnest but fiercely flat indie comedy about gaming culture.
Jeremy Piven-esque writer/director Blake Freeman, who also plays Cody, piles on tepid, tired gags in the vein of National Lampoon while trying to infuse Noobz with the deeper, wordier male-bonding aspects of Kevin Smith's View Askew films. Sometimes it feels like you're watching an unlikable frat boy romp and the next second it's Chasing Amy, with each side nullifying the other. Kevin Smith-player Jason Mews, surprisingly, gives us Mews-lite here, acting as possibly the least inept, dysfunctional member of his gaming "clan." So there are aspects of Noobz I admire, namely the by-your-own-bootstraps filmmaking, but the comedy just isn't there.
