Since last year’s Tokyo Game Show was the largest yet (223,753 total visitors), frustrations became more apparent that the show was getting out of hand. It was too large for the layout that it was currently incorporating and fans weren’t having any of it.
Things are being changed around significantly this year to coordinate with this year’s theme of “Games: Limitless Evolution” and to make for a better fan experience, starting with the relief of foot traffic congestion. This will be accomplished through the addition of two new halls, Hall 9 and the Event Hall of Makuhari Messe, and a modified layout that widens the passages for improved safety.
