All-New X-Men #13 Review IGN All

Considering the break-neck pace at which All-New X-Men comes out, this story hasn't really moved all that much. This issue, however, gets the ball rolling more than it has been in the past six issues, with plans coming together and forces finally colliding. We get to see Mystique play her hand and the younger, time traveling X-Men get in on the action. Then things go bad. Really bad. Like, insanely bad.


Not to sound like a broken record, but what really drives this book is the character work by Brian Michael Bendis. The fact that very little has happened in the book would normally be a huge turnoff, but the character interaction has propelled this thing into the must-read realm. The voices of the original X-Men are just superbly crafted. The real show stealer though comes from Kitty Pryde, who explains to everyone why she thinks Havok's little “M-word” speech was way off base. It's emotional, meaningful, and brilliantly composed.
