We all make jokes about how Unreal Engine-powered sci-fi shooters all look the same, but until you’ve played Alien Rage, also known as 2013’s most incredibly generic game, you haven’t really seen how true that can be. You play as a guy who looks like Kratos dressed like Marcus Fenix, minus an interesting weapon like a chainsaw gun, and with an off-brand Cortana-style sassy AI sidekick. It’s so non-distinct and devoid of personality that even now, having recently finished playing, it’s already fading from my memory like a bad dream. It’s utterly forgettable and unremarkable other than its ham-fisted, chest-beating approach to making itself “challenging.”
When jawas grow three feet and turn to violence.
