From the storyline's inception, Mother was a great villain for the Young Avengers. Her level of malice was mesmerizing in its depths, while she also served as a convenient metaphor for the more mundane threats faced by all manner of young adults, superpowered or otherwise. Writer Kieron Gillen had tapped into something that resonated deeply with anyone who'd felt the overwhelming pressures of rising into adulthood like a flower stubbornly trying to sprout amidst densely packed snow. Sadly, however, Mother is starting to get a bit stale, and our intrepid Young Avengers are in desperate need of a fresh story arc.
