It looks like movie trailers are getting the chop in America, with the National Association of Theater Owners suggesting that studios limit their length from two-minutes-thirty-seconds to just two-minutes.
The new guidelines also state that studios will not be allowed to show a trailer for a movie more than five months before release, although distributors will be allowed two exemptions a year on both of these fronts.
According to Variety, the new rules – which are voluntary – will come into effect on October 1.
“These guidelines will evolve in response to technological innovations, marketing and advertising trends, competition in the marketplace and consumer demands” the Association explained in a statement.
