Larrain in Talks to Direct Scarface Remake IGN All

It looks like the Scarface remake (well, remake of the remake I guess) has a director now: Chilean helmer Pablo Larrain.


According to The Wrap, the director of the Oscar-nominated No is in talks for the Universal film, which will retell the immigrant story seen previously in the 1932 Paul Muni and 1983 Al Pacino versions. This take will be set in modern-day L.A. and will feature a Mexican immigrant as the from-zero-to-anti-hero lead.


“The filmmakers plan to cast an authentic Latino who is bilingual and bicultural as the lead character, whose name will be Tony, though his last name won't be Camonte (1932) or Montana (1983),” says the site. The producers are said to be open to casting an unknown in the role.
