Father and son stories have been nearly done to death in every form of media, and thus it is difficult to do something unique with the archetype. Cyclops #1 at its core is a basic father and son reconnecting tale, but because of Greg Rucka, it is elevated to something entirely new. The story follows 16 year-old Scott Summers, from the past, who has gone off into space with his recently returned, space pirate father Corsair. Scott wants to not only get to know his father better but also wants to not end up like the man he is today. That man not only scares him a bit, but also brings him some shame.
