I have to keep this review rather brief, due to an onslaught of pre-Upfront preparation – and I should warn next week’s review will be similarly brief, and perhaps very late – but I love this show too much to skip a week entirely.
Given the circumstances, this mini-review will all be bullet point style!
-Loved seeing the great Zeljko Ivanek show up, an actor who seems tailor-made for The Americans. There was a heartbreaking aspect to seeing this sad, dying man be used for information by Philip, but per usual, that’s just how it often goes for these spies.
-While Paige was perhaps overly articulate for her age, she made some excellent points to Philip and Elizabeth about needing to be her own person. It’s added to by the difficulty of her parents never truly being honest with her about who they are, of course – maybe she’d have more of their values if she knew what their values actually were. But it was good to see Elizabeth relent somewhat and let Paige go to her protest.
