The Voices is a brave career choice for Ryan Reynolds. The Hollywood heartthrob shot to fame in comedies Van Wilder, Just Friends and Waiting before receiving indie acclaim for the likes of The Nines and Buried. But a couple of expensive misfires in the shape of Green Lantern and R.I.P.D. have seen his stock somewhat fall of late.
The Voices would seem like a safe bet then, being high in concept but low in budget. The subject matter makes it a far more risky prospect however, the film a black comedy that concerns both schizophrenia and murder.
The charismatic star initially plays against type as Jerry Hickfang, a shy, sweet, seeming innocent who works in a factory making bathroom fixtures and faucets.
