TURN just seems to be getting better each week and "Mr. Culpeper" was no exception. It gave us a heavy dose of spycraft that many of us signed up for and, as hoped, the arrival of Abigail (as well as the return of Simcoe) tied Major Andre's story more directly into that of our heroes in Setauket.
The episode began with Abe dying at the hands of a Red Coat that discovers he's carrying a trojan egg. It's not really Abe though, it's an abstraction of Abe that exists in the nimble mind of Nathaniel Sackett, George Washington's civilian intelligence director. Sackett, played by the always great Stephen Root, is a terrific addition to the series, a sharp-minded wonk full of nifty ideas to transmit secret codes and create spy networks. Ben's ring of childhood friends is something he hasn't thought of. Abe and Anna aren't agents who've been planted behind enemy lines with cover stories. Their cover stories are their real lives.
