Sleepy Hollow: "Magnus Opus" Review IGN All

This season of Sleepy Hollow has worked hard to build up the ensemble around leads Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison. Katrina, Jenny, Henry and Abraham have all been fleshed out more while Hawley has joined the team and gradually gained the group’s trust. It’s opened up the show’s world a bit more and given us more to invest in which is a big step forward, even though the narrower view of the first season worked wonderfully. In fact, there have been enough additions that most episodes can’t squeeze everyone one, even sideling Ichabod with a cold last week.


But despite the show’s world expanding, it’s always revolved around the partnership between Abbie and Ichabod. So it’s awfully refreshing to have an hour like “Magnus Opus” essentially put everyone else on hold for the two Witnesses to rely only on each other and wind up facing the Headless Horseman himself. Aside from brief check-ins with Katrina, Jenny, and Irving, this might as well be last season, with Abbie and Ichabod working together on the case of the week. I’ve really enjoyed how the Witnesses’ partnership has grown to the point where it’s now a full-blown gang, but Mison and Beharie working together is always the series’ greatest asset, and watching them on their own here is a great reminder of that.
