The fact that a show like Galavant, debuting this coming Sunday, is airing on ABC is a modern day marvel. The medieval series is billed as a musical comedy extravaganza, and it delivers exactly that and does so with panache. Part Robin Hood: Men in Tights and part The Princess Bride, Galavant follows the story of a hero named Galavant (Rogue's Joshua Sasse) as he tries to get his true love Madalena (Mallory Jansen) back from King Richard (Psych's Timothy Omundson). Tried and true fairy tale material, right? While the musical and slightly silly approach would be enough to alter the standard "hero goes after the girl" story, Galavant goes out of the way to change it up with small but effective twists.
