Hotels Petition FCC to Limit Personal Wifi Hotspots IGN All

Hotel wi-fi is generally regarded as the wi-fi of last resort for many people, as the busy and sometimes under-supported networks don't always provide the same speeds and security consumers can get using personal hotspots. But a petition filed by the American Hotel and Lodging Association with the Federal Communications Commission seeks to limit consumer use of personal hotspots under the auspices of safety.


In the petition to FCC, the AHLA points to practices such as access point spoofing, injection of malicious software, and other attacks to bolster its case to halt personal hot-spot use in hotels.
