A patent infringement case against Nintendo will not move forward, the company announced today.
In a ruling by Judge Robert S. Lasnik in a Seattle federal court, the case brought before the court by UltimatePointer LLC against Nintendo was decided in Nintendo's favor.
Two patents owned by UltimatePointer LLC were claimed to be infringed upon by Nintendo's Wii system, specifically the controllers. In 2010, UltimatePointer's patent for its "Easily Deployable Interactive Direct-Pointing System and Presentation Control System and Calibration Method" was approved, although the application was submitted in 2005, right before Nintendo launched the Wii.
