In some Sony news that doesn't involve The Interview or North Korean hacker threats, the studio has picked up Robert Rodriguez's live-action remake of Fire and Ice - the 1983 animated film collaboration between painter Frank Frazetta and animator Ralph Bakshi.
Rodriguez has had this film in the works since the deal was closed in 2010, shortly after his friend Frazetta's death. As reported by Deadline, this acquisition reunites Rodriguez with Sony for the first time since Columbia Pictures acquired El Mariachi.
