Metal Gear Rising Sequel Teased for PS4 IGN All
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance might be getting a sequel if a trailer for PlayStation 4 games shown at the 2015 Taipei Game Show is any indication.
A NeoGAF user spotted the brief image of a number two with a design reminiscent of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’s logo. The image appears briefly in an archived Twitch live stream of the show and is sandwiched between The Order: 1886 and Driveclub at the 2:46:40 mark.

How World of Warcraft Got its Groove Back IGN All
World of Warcraft’s a curious creature. In the 10 years it’s been around, Blizzard’s MMO has been a genre-defining prodigy, an out-of-touch relic, and everything in between. From Leeroy Jenkins to the birth of the word “pwn”, WoW even managed to transcend video gaming and enter the world of popular culture proper. The last few years, however, have seen a slow but steady decline in subscriber numbers, with a lot of former players inexplicably keen to see the game’s demise. The release of Warlords of Draenor seems to have reversed everything, with former players returning at an impressive rate and subscriptions rising above the 10 million mark for the first time since the September 2012 launch of Mists of Pandaria.

12 Monkeys: "Cassandra Complex" Review IGN All
Note: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
This week, Cole fought timespace, the terrifying (and very strong) Pallid Man and his goons, solar flares, and his own conscience, all to find out from a dead man that the so-called "Night Room" can be traced via very specialized equipment. I enjoyed the journey, but I was a little letdown by the payoff (or lack there of).
Cole and Cassandra discovered that the scientist who Goines remembered escaping The Pallid Man's bloodbath is actually Dr. Henri Toussaint, a former colleague of Cassandra's. She's shocked to discover he was killed in Haiti shortly after they worked together, but Cole has a time machine and a point in time where he knows exactly where Henri can be found. In fact, even he wasn't dead, it would probably be easier for Cole to find him in time than geographically, which is one the things that makes this show fun. It was also nice to see Cassandra teasing Cole about his not using utensils to eat Chinese food, not to mention his lack of experience with food being delivered to one's house. The scene where she has Cole believing for a moment that a real "General" is involved in the making of said take-out was truly delightful. Aaron Stanford and Amanda Schull are just perfect together as two differently damaged people clinging to each other through an impossible situation.

Constantine: "A Whole World Out There" Review IGN All
Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...
In the Hellblazer comics, it was a lot easier to watch John hop from job to job while utilizing whichever teammates he needed at the time. Friends and frenemies popped in and out in a way that felt more natural than it does on the TV series. Whenever Chas and/or Zed are missing from an episode, it's more notable. And the excuses for their absence feel forced. Now when they're both gone - as was the case with this week's episode, "A Whole World Out There" - it can instantly make an installment feel wonky.
But it wasn't just Chas and Zed being gone (for family time and bed rest, respectively) that made this episode feel out of sorts. The story just didn't feel like a Constantine story. It was a jumble of too many things. Not only did it represent an extreme breather from comic lore, along with the TV show's own "Rising Darkness" arc, it felt like the product of too many studio notes.

Opinion: Hype Isn’t Always a Bad Thing – Hype is Hope IGN PS3
Hype's gotten a bad rap.
True, things can definitely get out of control when frothy-mouthed marketers promise life-changing miracles to get all of us to take notice of a game nearing release. We all know the dangers of over-hype – and yes, we’re all a little guilty of sometimes getting a little too caught up in the excitement. To be perfectly clear, I do not mean to defend flagrantly false or misleading advertising, and I certainly do not recommend that you pre-order games on blind faith. After all, if people don’t wait for reviews before buying games, I’m out of a job as IGN’s reviews editor. You should absolutely always wait until reviews are in and gameplay footage is available before throwing money at a game, no matter what’s been said ahead of launch.

Supreme League of Patriots Review IGN All
Deconstructing superhero mythology can be a joyful way of both celebrating and lampooning comic book culture in video games, which makes the uneven Supreme League of Patriots something of a trojan horse of social commentary. It turns the origin of a real superhero into a three-episode attack on Republicans that, even as a liberal, had me cringing at its non-stop bashing. The clever puzzles, while occasionally frustrating, are a highlight, but even they may not be enough to keep you playing through this verbose comedic adventure’s non-superheroic antics.
Playable character Kyle Keever is a lovable dimwit who identifies as lefty, but through a series of mishaps while auditioning for the reality TV show America’s Got Superpowers, transforms into the Purple Patriot, an ultra-conservative jingoist, chauvinist, and homophobe. I think we’re meant to laugh at his offensive observations and actions, but the overbearing, meandering dialogue rarely allows the humor to stick. The best lines are delivered by Melvin, the Purple Patriot’s liberal best friend and sidekick, whose only superpower is a droll British sense of humor. Listening to the duo riff off each other like a superheroic Sam and Max can be amusing, but the punchlines often get lost in the hyper-partisan tirades. Even when the adventure makes jabs at liberals, the outcome is more offensive than funny, such as the inclusion of a flamboyant gay superhero who wears makeup, leather, and high heels or the racist-tinged poster of Barack Obama in the third episode that declares he’s “wanted by the Kenyan embassy.”

Is Oderus Urungus the Next Mortal Kombat X Character? IGN All
Metal fans are petitioning to have late GWAR singer Dave Brockie immortalized as a playable character in Mortal Kombat X.
Pictured below as his on-stage character, Oderus Urungus, he sort of looks like a mixture of Shao Kahn and Baraka. The petition has nearly 3,700 signatures, and its creator, "Boston Brand," is aiming for 5,000. From the petition page:
"People who are familiar with GWAR know Oderus Urungus, (played by Dave Brockie) the former singer of the band, unfortunately passed away last March. Oderus was as hilarious as he was viscous, and also one of the most colorful and creative characters not only in rock history, but also history in general. Though his music will live on, what better way would there be to further immortalize (toasty) Oderus Urungus then to have him be a playable character on Mortal Kombat X."

Eddie Murphy Returning to SNL for First Time in 30 Years IGN All
As most of you know, Eddie Murphy was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984, becoming a breakout film star in the process (48 Hours, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop). Murphy however, unlike a lot of other SNL alums, never once returned to the show for a hosting gig or a guest spot since he last appeared on December 15th, 1984.
Until now.
Murphy recently told NewsOne that he will be appearing on SNL's three-hour 40th anniversary special, airing on February 15th.
"It just never worked out where the timing was right for me to do it," Murphy told News One. "They're having a 40th anniversary. I'm going to that. And that will be the first time I've been back since I left."

Ezra Miller Explains How He Became The Flash IGN All
When Warner Bros. and DC’s movie slate was revealed last fall, one surprise piece of news was that actor Ezra Miller would star in a big-screen take on The Flash in 2018. Which, hey, cool -- we’re getting a Flash movie! But also, how did Miller get the job already when we didn’t even know the film was in the works until it was announced?
Now the actor has explained a bit of that process to MTV. The Perks of Being a Wallflower and We Need to Talk About Kevin actor, whose latest film The Stanford Prison Experiment played at Sundance this week, said that he was hanging out in “a remote, landlocked town in the middle of Costa Rica” when his phone rang.

Kingsman: The Secret Service Review IGN All
In Kingsman: The Secret Service, director Matthew Vaughn once again proves that he excels in taking well-established -- one might even say tired -- genres and tropes and reenergizing them with his patented blend of wit, reverence for what has come before, and hyper-violence.
Adapted from the comic series by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Kingsman is a paean to the super-spy movie, but with a specific eye towards modernizing the gadget-crazed, Very British variation on the kind. Yes, bulletproof umbrellas and watches that shoot amnesia darts are back in vogue thanks to Vaughn and co-scripter Jane Goldman, and you’ll love them for it. Of course, who can be surprised that the director -- the guy who sent the X-Men to the Mod 1960s in First Class -- would fixate on the stylings of the James Bond archetype? In Kingsman, it’s the suit that makes the agent as much as anything else.

Black Hood #1 Review IGN All
Note - Black Hood #1 will be released on Wednesday, February 25. This is a spoiler-free advance review.
Considering how long the Red Circle imprint has been around and how many publishers have been affiliated with these characters, you'd think there would be a lot of baggage coming into Archie Comics' latest revamp. But the appeal of this re-branded Dark Circle imprint is that there's no baggage to be had. Black Hood #1 is a completely fresh start for the character, wiping away all previous continuity and introducing a new character under the hood. This first issue proves that Archie can do dark and gritty superhero comics just as well as they do all-ages adventure and teen romantic comedies.
