After signing a research agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration, CNN is one step closer to integrating drones into mainstream news reporting.
The agreement between CNN and the FAA combines research CNN has already conducted with Georgia Tech Research Institute, reports The Verge.
These three organizations will be collaborating on the effort to introduce unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, into the news gathering and reporting process.
"Our aim is to get beyond hobby-grade equipment and to establish what options are available and workable to produce high quality video journalism using various types of UAVs and camera setups," said CNN Senior Vice President David Vigilante.
