Green Arrow #38 Review IGN All

STK659755 Green Arrow’s latest exploits get a boost from the appearance of dreamy-eyed ring-slinger, Green Lantern. While the team-up and resulting banter proves entertaining, issue #38 nevertheless offers little in terms of consistent voice, leaving this incarnation of Oliver Queen still very much up in the air.


With John King continuing to make his villainous presence known, writers Kreisberg and Sokolowski again attempt to up the ante, filling their latest with supervillain throw downs, power plays and public image assassinations. While such machinations serve the story well in setting King up as a legitimate threat, many of the book’s smaller pieces aren’t quite so formed yet to make them matter. We’re still getting used to the team and various side players, so throwing them into the proverbial fire so soon hinders its impact. As for GL; while his guest spot leads to a number of enjoyable moments, particularly the book’s opening fight, the weird bit of ego-jawing between the two feels oddly unnatural given the book’s events.
