Nintendo: 3DS Sales Dip Lower than Expected in Q4 2014 IGN All

Nintendo has seen a 40 percent slide in global 3DS sales when compared to the fourth quarter of 2013.


With 4.99 million 3DS units purchased globally during the holiday season, Nintendo has decreased its projected sales for 2015 from 12 million to 9 million. According to them, the handheld "did not grow sufficiently" in the US or Europe.


Conversely, the Japanese company confirms gains in its software sales. In 2014, Nintendo reports a total of 53.04 million units of software sold throughout the year. Pokemon Omega Ruby Version, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire Version and Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS helped bolster these software sales, selling 9.35 million and 6.19 million copies each.
