This series definitely reads like the true successor to Jason Aaron's Wolverine and the X-Men in terms of tone. Writer Elliot Kalan offers a much more lighthearted and goofy counterpoint to the rest of the X-Men franchise. And by and large, that's the right approach to take when you're dealing with a comic that pairs Spider-Man with the misfit youths of the Jean Grey School. This series still shows little desire to explore more dramatic depths, but it's plenty entertaining for what it is.
