Swamp Thing, to say the least, is a beloved comic book character. A part of this is because he’s just so darn cool, but as with any fictional character it’s the story that makes the man or woman. The character has been popular for decades, but The New 52 saw him return to prominence once again as one of the stars of the DCU proper. Readers witnessed Scott Snyder reinvigorate the character with his amazing take, and were amazed again when lightning struck twice with the debut of Charles Soule on the title. Since his takeover, Soule has done much to honor what’s come before while leaving his own indelible mark on the character. In his final issue, Soule manages to wax poetic with a bit of a truncated conclusion that’s filled with action, intensity, twists, and more.
