Green Lantern: The New Guardians #13 Review IGN All

Tony Bedard has done this series a favor by utilizing a smaller cast to better focus on Kyle Rayner. The artsy Green Lantern has the ability to use any color of the emotional spectrum and must master each one in order to call on those different powers. That concept has the potential to show all the different facets of Kyle’s character, but Bedard delivers a story that -- while certainly visually stimulating -- could have been a lot more creative.


This issue features Kyle getting a lesson from Atrocitus in the ways of the Red Lantern’s rage energy. The story feels rushed and comes to an early climax that does not feel earned in the slightest. I wholly like Bedard’s new direction for this book, so slowing down to tell a more thoughtful and layered story will go a long way to make me relate to what Kyle goes through and feel excited/angry/tortured right along with him.
